Singapore Airlines to set up new low-cost carrier
SINGAPORE—Singapore Airlines (SIA) said Wednesday it will launch within one year a new budget airline using wide-body aircraft to tap into growing consumer demand for low-cost travel over longer distances.
SIA already runs a short-haul mid-price airline called SilkAir and owns 32.9 percent of budget carrier Tiger Airways but said it decided to establish the new subsidiary after “an extensive review and analysis” of the market.
It did not give a name for the future airline, saying more details will be announced “in due course” including its branding, services and routes.

Flying dreams a pie in the sky
I have many enquiries on whether you should take up a piloting course or not.If you see the article below ( though I personally believe that the number is actually more than 1000+) my advise is unless you are very SURE that you want to start a life long career as a pilot, it is better to take up a university degree first as a backup before you embark on this journey. Studying to get a pilot license is not cheap and if it is really your dream to become one and you have no financial constraint, by all means go ahead!
PETALING JAYA: Up to 500 licensed junior pilots in Malaysia have not been able to take to the skies in the last two years. There are just not enough jobs for them.
The number of flying schools have quadrupled from two about three years ago to eight now, resulting in an oversupply of fresh pilots vying for the limited number of positions as airline trainee pilots.
While the schools produced between 300 and 400 pilots annually in the last five years, their total intake for a year can reach up to 800, given that the course takes between 18 months and two years.

Is Cabin Crew a flying Prostitute ?
Ok ok, I know that my title is kinda controversial. Many of you have asked me whether being a cabin crew, do you have to sleep with the pilot, force to go to bed by the senior in order for promotions and etc etc. All I can say is, yeah, you watch too much movies. I am not saying that it doesn’t happen but it’s very very rare. Airlines have strict company policy and you can actually report them whether they are colleagues or passengers who try to take advantage of you.
Pilots or stewards are smart enough not to have fun one night or get into trouble by harassing colleagues which can jeopardize their career. It’s simply not worth it. Normally if it does happen, it’s with consent from both party, after all, it takes two to tango isn’t it? I know some of you have a tough time convincing your gf/bf regarding this job and you are torn between your newfound career and your relationship. I have many colleagues who are attached and married and they do have a stable relationship and know their limits. I guess to be in this line, you should be mature enough to know what you should and should not do.

Interview Tips for Airline Crew - Part 2
1) Attitude - Demonstrate a positive can-do attitude by appearing enthusiastic about the job interview and role. Smile, actively participate and contribute in group discussions, and be engaged by asking questions after the career talk.
2) Self-Presentation - Not only dress for success but also appear professional. Guys must appear neat and tidy. Female candidates with long hair must have their hair neatly tied up in a bun. Make up is mandatory for female candidates. Consider how a professional cabin crew would present himself/herself - follow that example and attend the interview looking professional
3) Teamwork - in group discussions, acknowledge team members ideas by actively listening and paraphrasing their thoughts. Encourage others to raise ideas and contribute. Take an active role in managing team and draw the team back on track. Most of all, address each other by name.
