Qatar Airways cabin crew interview process and stages - ( Updated Version - 2014 )

Hi all cabin crew wannabes and fans of Fly Gosh, I have been benefiting from this awesome website and thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to contribute back! So I will be sharing on my latest experience in the cabin crew interview for Qatar Airways that I have recently attended at Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur on the 15th of June 2014.

Pre-interview

Before attending any interview, it is always an advantage to do your research on the company you are applying for so you will know what their latest development is and it also shows the recruiters that you take the initiative for the job and really do want to work with them. You can also Google for any past interview process to be more prepared so you’ll know what to expect on the day itself. For most Middle Eastern airline (MEA) interview, they will have a presentation on the open day about the company and the city you will be based at and then some Q&A session.

This is where you can put your knowledge to good use and leave some really good impression for the recruiters to remember you. But of course this is just a suggestion and you don’t necessary have to do it. How you present yourself during that few minutes of CV submission matters the most. The day before the interview, make sure you get enough rest as the open day will be a long waiting process.

Interview Day

Most airlines divide their interview into a few days. For MEA, they have the first open day for just the CV submission, second day for assessment and the third for the final interview. This time Qatar Airways only made it a two day event and not three days like the Emirates Airways interview the week before. So let’s get to the juicy part of my experience, the interview process.

First day: Open Day

I am really happy because my bestie, J has decided to accompany me for the interview. She’s such a sweetheart! The interview starts at 9am and we were there at 8.45am. It is always good to arrive earlier especially for any MEA interview because they are very particular in punctuality as cabin crews have to be on time for their duty.

Japan Airlines Cabin Crew Interview Process and Stages ( Singapore )

I'm sure many of the Cabin Crew wannabe saw the recruitment posting from Japan Airlines a month ago, and started searching on the interview processes and the salary structure. Well, I also dreamt of becoming a cabin crew, and decided to give it a shot.

Not sure how it works for other countries and in Japan itself, but in Singapore, it is an online application where there will be a link in their JAL Singapore site and then direct you to the online application form. You fill in basic information of yourself such as Name/DOB/Height/Education etc. They also ask whether you have any scars and tattoos which may or may not be visible while wearing the uniform.

And then you'll just wait for their email after their application closing date and yes, I received the notification to go for their 1st interview held at their office in Changi Airport. It is not a walk in interview, so the office is rather quiet with 2 staffs at a counter at their doorstep. There were few staff present probably because of it is a weekend.

We were then asked to submit photocopies of our IC and educational certificates, which were asked for when they sent the email for the 1st interview notification. So in order to leave a good impression, I suggest all applicants who will be lucky enough to be asked for interview to get these documents printed by hook or by crook.

The counter staff will issue you a number sticker, and you will be asked to stick it on your left chest area. Also, be sure you meet the height requirement, as even before the interview, they will take your height. So forget about applying if you're not at least the height they ask for.

New low-cost airline plan in Malaysia

ALOR SETAR: Two firms are planning to start a new airline with Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Kepala Batas here as its hub.

Bumi Aviation Sdn Bhd and Neptune Air Sdn Bhd are behind the new low-cost carrier, which has yet to be named, and plan to start with return flights to Langkawi, Kota Baru, Medan, Acheh and Phuket.

Bumi Aviation managing director Abdul Wahab Mat Isa claimed that the new airline would be operational by September.

“We chose Alor Setar as we felt it is geographically strategic for domestic and international flights to Thailand and Indonesia. Our airline and our destinations can help boost the state’s economy,” he said, adding that Bumi Aviation was set up early this year.

When pressed for information on frequency of flights and fares at the press conference at the airport yesterday, he said more would be revealed when the memorandum of understanding for the enterprise was inked at the end of this month.

“We plan to purchase new planes for the new airline company,” Neptune Air director Muhammad Abdul Jalil said.

“We plan to buy two planes first, either the ATR 42-300 or ATR 42-500 (turbo prop aircraft), at a cost of about RM10mil, including operations. We will need at least 10 aircraft in two years’ time to optimise operations.”

Muhammad said Neptune Air was set up in 2006 and had nine aircraft, providing services such as dry and wet lease, cargo and passenger charter flights and air cargo retail sales for selected schedule routes.

Malaysian Airlines, Firefly and Air Asia provide domestic flights from the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport and there was a direct flight to Medina and Jeddah for Haj pilgrims last year.
