What's involved?

 

fileFlight Attendants play many different roles while in the air – they're safety officers, food servers and cleaners, and sometimes even nurses and baby-sitters. It's a demanding but highly rewarding role that will allow you to work to a flexible roster.

The ultimate goal is to provide an exceptional in-flight service to passengers and ensure their safety and comfort at all times. This is achieved by performing tasks such as food and beverage service, safety and security procedures, and cleaning, as well as by anticipating customers' needs and quickly responding to special requests and problems as they arise.

Your Career Path

Your journey as a Flight Attendant will begin with an intensive six-week induction programme that includes practical sessions in an aircraft mock-up. You'll be shown all routine service, safety and security practices and procedures, as well as practice responding to a wide variety of passenger and service related situations including emergencies.

After gaining experience in Economy Class, high performing Flight Attendants are moved to serve in Business and First Class. Throughout your time in the role you'll receive continuous training to ensure that you are kept up to date with safety and security procedures, as well as opportunities for promotion to senior roles in the air and on the ground. A common career path entails progression to Flight Purser positions and then to an Inflight Service Manager role.

All Flight Attendants are employed on a three-year contract. This is so we can reward you fairly in alignment with global market trends and present you with opportunities to reinforce your career decisions.

They're able to adapt to long flights and time zone changes, also are always able to appear polite and professional – even if serving a particularly demanding customer at 3am!

Below are the requirements for employment as a Flight Attendant.

Hong Kong Base

  • Permanent Hong Kong resident status
  • Minimum age of 18
  • HKCEE: Minimum of Grade E in five HKCEE subjects (including Level 2 or above in English Language),
or

    HKDSE: Minimum of Level 2 in five New Senior Secondary School Subjects (or “Attained” for Applied Learning Subjects, or Grade E for Other Language Subjects) including English Language, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English and one of the following Asian languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Tagalog or Thai. Proficiency in Mandarin is preferrable.
  • Polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and customer-oriented mindset
  • A minimum arm-reach of 208 cm and physical fitness to pass the pre-employment medical assessment
